The Earth is warming and we are a principal cause. Hurricanes are increasing in frequency and intensity as a result. Climate -> Weather. These headlines happened to arrive here on the day this sequence was being prepared. They are typical of what we now see continually in the news and in the environment around us. Abrupt climate change and its corollary, extreme weather, are becoming international preoccupations. That focus will only intensify in the years ahead. Now consider the position of GPS-RO. It is the only technique that can conclusively document, with rigorous traceability, the global pattern of temperature change throughout the atmosphere.
